Genealogy by the States – Week 22 – Alabama

Posted by on Sunday, 2 June, 2013

This week’s blogging prompt is the State of Alabama. Blog about an ancestor or your families connection to Alabama. If you don’t have any connections to Alabama, find a Alabama resource useful for genealogy research to highlight and write about. This week’s prompt runs from 6/2/2013 – 6/8/2013. If you choose to follow along, I would appreciate a mention to the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.

William Clifford Sanders was my second cousin one time removed. We both descend from John Charles Sanders and Mary Clark Tripp. John Charles Sanders and Mary Clark Tripp have quite a number of descendants. This particular line of Sanders, we kind of lost contact with.

He was born on 23-Aug-1937 in Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut. married to Rheba Kay Nobles in Alabama. He was married to Rheba on 28-Sep-1963 in Opelika, Lee County, Alabama (my family connection to Alabama). He died on 03-Apr-2001 in Oshkosh, Winnebago county, Wisconsin.

William Clifford Sanders is a former professor at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. According to the faculty and staff directories he last appears in 1999-2000. According to some notes I have, he was a professor of German. I’m not sure where he picked up his German as our family, at least the Sanders line, doesn’t have a strong connection to Germany.
