Genealogy by the States
This year I thought I’d offer my readers a weekly blogging prompt. Each week the blog post will focus on a particular state. The post can be about a particular individual or family who lived in or was connected in some way to that state. Sometimes there will not be a personal connection to the state. In this case find a genealogy resource for that state to talk about and highlight instead. Follow along with this series and post to your own site. If you choose to follow along, please link to (http://www.hiddengenealogynuggets.com) or mention the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.
The first week will run from 1/6/2013 – 1/12/2013. All weeks have been stated in the order they became a state. The last two weeks are for Washington DC and US Territories.

What a great idea!
Hi Heather,
Thanks for stopping by. I’m hoping a number of other bloggers will be blogging along. This week thru tomorrow is Delaware. Do you have any family connections to Delaware?
Tune in this Sunday for Pennsylvania. Each Sunday along with one of my ancestor’s connection to that state, I will include a few links helpful for genealogy in that state.
Regards, Jim
Jim, as I mentioned before I love your idea. I have shared this post on my Friday Favorites: http://leavesfortrees.blogspot.com/2013/01/follow-friday-favorites-for-january-18.html
Thanks for the great idea…I’m looking forward to Missouri!
Hi Heather,
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate the feedback. This week is the State of Pennsylvania. On Sunday a new post about one of my connections to New Jersey will come out. There will also be a few helpful genealogy links for New Jersey.
I’ll have to see what connections to Missouri I have. I have connections to most states, even if it is one of my collateral lines. I’m usually ready about a month or two in advance, but Missouri is a little farther out than that.
Regards, Jim
I’m in Jim! Always looking for ways to get my blogging mojo going!
Hi Pam,
Thanks for stopping by. Do you have any connections to this week’s state (Pennsylvania)?
Regards, Jim
Jim,
Great idea! A little late, but started with Pennsylvania. Looking forward to learning new history and resources along the way. Thank you for this great series!
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it. You must have missed the first week as the first week was Delaware. The prompt is going by order of statehood.
Regards, Jim
Hello, Jim. This looks great, a good way to share & learn more about our locations. I’d like to follow along. I’m always interested in new sources for states.
I feel a bit slow here. How do I go to each posted state? [tried clicking on the list above]If I want to jump in how do I do that?
Hi Colleen,
On my blog there are a couple categories you can find the state postings. The first category is “Genealogy by the States”. This will list all of the states so far. You can also click on the Connecticut category to get to the Connecticut post, etc.
Regards, Jim
