Since this original post, I was able to confirm that my Patrick Fraher was indeed the Patrick Fraher who served in the 12th US Regular Army during the Civil War.  A different Patrick Fraher died in Andersonville prison during the Civil War.  A third Patrick Fraher was living in the Derby, Connecticut area during the same time My Patrick Fraher was living in New Britain, Connecticut. You can find my Patrick Fraher in the 1870 &amp; 1880 in the New Britain, Connecticut, US Census with a last name of &quot;Fryher or Friher&quot; depending upon the year.  His Civil War pension file lists his name as Patrick Fraher.
